What We Do Before We Wax
Every waxing service at Five Elements starts with a quick check. We ask about your skin, your current products, and any conditions that could make waxing unsafe. This is not a formality. Some medications and skincare ingredients make the skin more likely to lift or react — we screen for those every time, not just on your first visit.
If something comes up in your screening that we are not comfortable working around, we will tell you and reschedule without a penalty. Your skin comes first.
What Waxing Actually Does
Waxing removes hair at the root, slightly below the surface of the skin. Done consistently, it can slow regrowth over time because the follicle weakens with each treatment. Results typically last about four weeks, though this varies by person and body area.
Hair must be at least one-quarter inch long to wax effectively. If you shave between appointments, plan to wait at least two to three weeks before your next wax.
Before You Book
Please do not book a waxing service if any of the following apply:
- You are currently using or have recently used Accutane (within 6 months)
- You are currently using or have recently used Retin-A, retinol, or prescription retinoids (within 3 months)
- You are using glycolic acid, salicylic acid, or other exfoliating acids on the area
- You have a sunburn, recent chemical peel, or active skin irritation on the area
- You have had recent laser hair removal or laser skin resurfacing on the area

Our Waxing Menu
After Your Wax
A few things to avoid for 24 to 48 hours after waxing:
- Hot showers, steam rooms, or saunas
- Tight clothing on the waxed area
- Sun exposure or tanning beds
- Heavy exercise that causes friction or sweat on the waxed area
- Exfoliating products or strong active ingredients on the waxed area
Starting about 48 hours after your wax, gentle exfoliation two to three times per week can help prevent ingrown hairs. We can suggest a simple routine if you need one.
